ECHO provides support to those in need in the Springfield/Burke community — providing food, clothing, housewares, diapers, school supplies, refurbished computers, and limited financial assistance with rent, utilities and car repairs

To qualify for assistance from ECHO you must live in one of these ZIP code areas:

22151, 22152, 22153, 22015, parts of 22150 (West of I - 95), and a small part of 22312 (Southwest of Indian Run Stream/Spring Valley Drive).

Before Calling

Translation services are limited. An English speaker should be present to assist with the call.

Before the Appointment

  • Childcare arrangements should be made in advance, as children are not permitted during the appointment.
  • Clients must bring a photo ID and proof of address (such as a postmarked envelope or utility bill with client's name and address) issued in the last 2 months to EVERY appointment.

Appointment Preparation Checklist

  • Call at least 7-10 business days before rent is due or the day of service cutoff.
  • Clients must bring a photo ID and a Proof of Address that is less than 2 months old to EVERY appointment.
  • ECHO must be contacted to cancel and reschedule the appointment prior to the scheduled date. Messages may be left during operating hours if staff are unavailable to answer the call.

Assistance We Provide

ECHO can help you with food, clothing, housewares, diapers, school supplies, refurbished computers, and limited financial assistance with rent, utilities, and car repairs.

ECHO’s Food Pantry offers choice in grocery shopping to cover family needs up to six times a year.
You will need transportation.

ECHO allows clients to select seasonal clothing up to 3 times per year.
You will need transportation.

ECHO may provide needed household items up to 3 times per year.

Financial Assistance

Financial Assistance

ECHO provides limited financial assistance to clients for rent, utilities, late fees, prescription drugs, car repairs, and English classes. ECHO does not pay for security deposits, telephone bills, cable or similar services, or credit card bills.

ECHO’s clients can receive a box of diapers for each child when coming to ECHO for food, clothing or financial appointments.

Computers

Computers

All client households are eligible to be put on a waiting list to receive a refurbished computer.

School Supplies

School Supplies

All clients with children in grades kindergarten and above are eligible to received backpacks filled with basic supplies for the appropriate grade levels in July through September. School supplies may also be provided throughout the year as needed.

Holiday Meals

Holiday Meals

ECHO’s Holiday Meal Program provides a holiday meal or grocery gift card to qualified clients. Each eligible client family receives one meal during either November or December.

Holiday Shop

Holiday Shop

Eligible families with children ages 1–12 who have had at least three appointments between September 1 and August 31 will receive an invitation to schedule a holiday gift appointment.
