Hours of Operation - Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM;  and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays 7:00 - 9:00 PM.
NOTE that ECHO is closed whenever Fairfax County Schools are closed for inclement weather.

Assistance- We provide temporary or emergency assistance, including food, clothing, household items, and financial support to about 1,000 families a year.  Persons requesting assistance must first call ECHO at 703-569-9160 when we are open, and speak to a family counselor.  We cannot accept walk-in clients.  Our counselors will determine whether or not ECHO may be able to provide the needed assistance and, if so, schedule an appointment.  As appropriate, our counselors may suggest other options the person in need of assistance might pursue.

Location - We are located at 7205 Old Keene Mill Road in the red brick building between the 7-Eleven and Garfield Elementary School on the south side of Old Keene Mill Road at Commerce Street in downtown Springfield, Virginia.  For a street level map, click here.

Service Area - We serve those in need who live in the Springfield and Burke communities and selected parts of the Lorton and Fairfax Station communities.  ECHO boundaries include the entire area covered by these Springfield ZIP codes: 22151, 22152 and 22153 and parts of the follow ZIP codes:  22150, 22312, 22015, 22039, and 22079.  Click here to see our service area.

Donations - We accept donations of non-perishable food, household items and clothing.   All items donated must be clean and in working order, as appropriate.  We cannot accept furniture (except nursery furniture) or large appliances.   Of course, financial contributions are always welcome.  Contributions to ECHO are tax deductible.  ECHO participates in fund-raising drives for United Way as Agency #8426, and for CFC as Agency #74224.   Click here for a detailed list of items ECHO can and cannot accept.

Please... don't leave donations outside ECHO when we are not open.

Collecting Donations - ECHO is grateful that organizations and individuals frequently wish to collect items to support our mission to assist the needy in the Springfield/Burke area.  Please click here for further information on guidelines for collecting donations.

Volunteers – ECHO is all-volunteers - almost 400 - they accept and log donations; counsel clients; sort clothes; bag groceries; mow the lawn; shovel snow; and even clean the bathroom.  No one receives a salary.  Volunteers are always needed - call us!  To see a short video about volunteering at ECHO, click here.

Non-Discrimination - ECHO policy prohibits discrimination as it relates to service delivery on the basis of race, creed, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, physical or mental health, sexual orientation or any characteristic protected by law.  We have barrier-free access to our entrance, an accessible restroom, and accessible routes inside and outside the building.  For hearing-impaired persons, we use the Virginia relay number.

Our administrative costs are less than 1% of our total revenue.
