What Does it Mean to be All-Volunteer?

All-Volunteer means that no donation to ECHO goes toward paying anyone's salary.
Our overhead of less than 1% goes to pay utilities, maintenance, etc. We own the building so none of it goes for rent.
It is unusual for a charity the size of ECHO to have no paid employees, but we think that our policy has kept the focus on the needs of the community rather than on the fundraising and grant writing that it would take to pay salaries.
Because we have no salaries to pay, we only do what our volunteers lead us to do. Our activities are shaped almost entirely by our ability to find volunteers.
Because we have no salaries to pay, we do very little fund-raising. If you donate to ECHO, you will not receive solicitations by mail or telephone.
